Cross Composite’s PEEK Carbon Moulded parts are also suitable for several medical applications. Orthesis, medical devices, surgical instruments, external fixators, drill/target guides, retractor blades and implants will be designed and produced thanks to the new technologies developed by Cross Composite. Once the part is produced and comes out of the mould, no CNC machining is required. All functions including the threads are moulded in a net-shape.
Bio-Compatibility and Sterilizability; Medical grades of thermoplastic materials are used for in-vivo applications. Cross Composite parts for medical use are fully bio-compatible and sterilisable with effective cost-advantages compared to surgical steel or titanium.
X-Ray Transparency; Cross Composite materials provide excellent x-ray transparency. Imaging and inspection of injuries during the healing phase is significantly simplified.
Surface Functionalization; Since A-CoMPparts are coming from a closed mould, part surfaces may be functionalized according to specific medical requirements within the production process. For example, functionalization may favour or inhibit cell growth.
